Oh yeah it’s that time of the week again when we team up wt an awesome brewery, an awesome pub and offer you some super cool beer poured exclusively in Mustache glasses for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

This go round will include a pretty stellar cask from Jester King. The druids, wizards, goblins, and dragons out at the farmhouse brewery off Fitzhugh road concocted a Wytchmaker cask conditioned with whiskey soaked oak cubes. Oak cubes drunk on whiskey floating in a killer rye IPA that can’t wait to be poured into a Mustached glass just for you!

So get your upper lips ready for a treat and come out to Black Star Co-op Monday, August 22 at 7 pm for the goodies.

And as if the event couldn’t get any better, Jester King’s resident artist and alpha beard, Josh Cockrell will be on hand for all you fanboys (looking in the mirror) to pester about starting gravitys, hop substitutions, bottle conditioning, barrel aging, beard grooming and internship opportunities.

Come early or at least on time, the last few glass nights sold out pretty swift.

Yup. We’re cooperating wt Black Star Coop and Independence Brewing Co to put on another buy the beer keep the Mustache Glass event this coming Monday, January 10.

This time it will be extra special as the fine folks at Independence have prepared a special CASK of the Stash IPA.

Stash on ‘Stache. Sounds dirty.

The event begins at 6 pm.

And in addition to the special Stash CASK, we’ll be set up in the corner by the brewery taking FREE ‘STACHE PORTRAITS!

After you’ve acquired your Stash in ‘Stache, come over and see us and get your ‘Stache portrait taken in front of the Black Star brewhouse.

We’ll post all portraits on the site after the event and may even hold a “Best ‘Stache” contest. That all depends on how motivated we are after in the weeks to come (the Bluehost auto renew just went thru, so looks like we’re doing this for another year…)

As if we weren’t already excited enough about our (512) Brewing cask/keep the glass night at Billy’s on Burnet, we woke up this morning to see the boys have added two new fermenting tanks. A few (512) brewers will be on hand tonight when the cask is tapped so come by and congratulate them on the continued success. Who knows, maybe they’ll even tell you more on how they got all that in there.

See you at Billy’s on Burnet tonight (Oct. 28)  for Austin Beer Week as we enjoy a cask of Bruin dry hopped with Simcoe (we heard this is the first public (512) firkin!)

The short:

• 2 new 60 barrel fermentation tanks
• 40% increase in production capacity
• Annual production now over 4,000 barrels
• Room for tanks made by moving the chiller outside
• Allows for some new creations!

We’re the proud new owners of yet two more 60BBL fermentation tanks at (512) Brewing! More beer to come!! This expansion represents a 40% increase in production capacity and brings are total annual production volume to well over 4000BBL per year! In addition to allowing us the ability to keep up with continued demand for (512) beers, these tanks will likely enable Nate to brew some of the many new creations we have in the works.

Where could these tanks fit in our current space, you may be asking? Well, we took this opportunity to relocate the chiller to outside, which was very similar to a heart transplant for the brewery. The chiller supplies cold antifreeze solution (glycol/water) to the fermentation tanks and cold water tank on demand and in order to not interrupt a very tight production schedule, taking the chiller off line for as short a time as possible was crucial. Nate’s skills working under fire constantly made it a pretty painless transition, but this is it, as far as new tanks, for this space. New tanks, scheduled for sometime in the 1st quarter of 2011, will accompany a new chiller and hopefully the adjoining rest of the building.

The Draught House has been dispensing beers for 41 years. Think about how long that is.
Think about how long you’ve been legally drinking beers.
41 yrs is long. That’s serious stuff. Check out that viking in the flyer. Not joking around. He has that huge hammer for a reason.

Josh dishes out a few versions of the history of the Draught House (did it come from a travceling dancer, a sordid character, or just a guy who likes good beer?), clears up the Draught Horse confusion, talks about his brews, and mostly the 41st party.

There will be music by DJ Jubal (if you’ve gone for the free brats on Saturday he most likely served you), lots of special beers (WTF- 3 YR OLD LIVE OAK TREE HUGGER!?!), a plush (yeah I said “plush”) selection on cask (Bear Republic Hot Rod Rye$!@# and Saint Arnold Christmas!@#$%@#$), plus some food and other stuff you can read about on the flyer below. I lazily copied and pasted a list of the beers Josh sent out on an email, the descriptions are his. It’s posted below the video.

I went last year, it was great.
Plus I heard from good sources that the New Belgium Tart Lychee is one of the best things New Belgium has made in a while.

We are drinking the Publication from Russian River. It’s got a good story. It’s not served at the Draught House.

Live Oak Treehugger- the 3 year old Barley Wine that we all miss…
New Belgium Tart Lychee-3 year old, aged in oak, blended sour ale with lychee and ceylon cinnamon.

Brooklyn Pennant- classic English Pale Ale
New Belgium Hoptoberfest- hopped up blond ale
Green Flash Hop Head Red- Red IPA?
Green Flash West Coast IPA- the pinnacle of American IPA’s
Allagash Curieux- bourbon barrel aged Triple
Saint Arnold Christmas Ale- probably my favorite SA beer. Very rich and great on cask
Bear Republic Hop Rod Rye- excellent rye IPA only made better on cask.
Real Ale Firemans #4- this beer rocks out of the firkin.
