  1. I am surprised y’all don’t have BJ’s Brewhouse listed under the brew pub category. I realize they don’t have fantastic in-house brews but they have good beer menu, great food, and a fun atmosphere.

  2. Brandon – BJs is a chain w/o brewpubs in Texas (not so in other states but blame TABC for that) – all in our state is contract brewed by St Arnolds so they are not a brewpub with nothing to differentiate one in Dalls/Houston or elsewhere with those in Austin (all great beer and very different from St Arnolds in part due to yeast strains used for their ales- St Arnolds using a Fullers strain and BJs using Chico), if the wonderful folk at Beertown put in everyone serving contract brewed beer they would have to include other places that do the same (and the number doing that could increase as more craft beer enters the market (NXNW is having beer contract brewed by Independence for outside accounts now, Southern Star is doing it for Tommy Bahamas restaurants – and i doubt anyone wants them on brewpub lists) and it would dilute attention from actual brewpubs brewing their own beers onsite that some think perhaps deserve a little more attention.

  3. Thanks for that explanation. I was about to make the same comment, though I’m still not sure how the beer bar list was created. Seems like that one would be the most problematic for who to include.

  4. How do you spell Uncle?
